Why Polymax
HIGH FILM STRENGTH
POLYMAX2™ utilizes POLY-slicq™ Additive Technology that forms a very slippery, super tough film on metal surfaces to protect bearings far beyond the ability of other refrigerant oils. The extraordinary film strength provides protection for bearings and metal components subject to mechanical stress such as misalignment, shaft flex, imbalance, water contamination and high temperatures. The tough film strength also means that POLYMAX2™ can carry far greater loads.

EXCELLENT PROTECTION
POLYMAX2™ forms an ionic bond to metal surfaces to displace corrosive moisture. That tough film also protects metal surfaces during operation and provides instant lubrication upon start up. It also provides added protection during operating conditions that would normally minimize compressor lubrication like rapid clutch cycling.

REDUCED BEARING VIBRATION, WEAR AND NOISE
Reduced oil film thickness quickly causes bearings to fail. POLY-slicq™ Additive Technology causes contacting bearing surfaces to ”micro-polish”. The smoother bearing surface will improve relative oil film thickness and promote elastohydrodynamic operating conditions in order to lower bearing vibration and operating temperatures. That improves bearing life of all compressors.

SYNTHETIC SOLVENCY
POLYMAX2™ is a synthetic lubricant, and has a natural solvency that cleans. That means reduced oil build up and sludge on the internal walls of condensers and evaporators. That translates into improved efficiency and ability to transfer heat.

Unless oil is contaminated, oxidation is the sole measure of oil life. Polymax2™ proves to be almost 10 times more oxidation stable than other A/C oils.

Moisture in oil reduces bearing life. Polymax2™ is non-hygroscopic which means it does not absorb moisture and it rapidly repels any moisture already in the A/C system.

Polymax2™ carries loads up to 5 times greater than other synthetic or mineral oils. Compressors run on a very thin film of oil, but Poly-slicq™ technology strengthens the film through ionic or polar bonding, greatly reducing wear.

NON HYGROSCOPIC AND RAPIDLY SEPARATES FROM WATER
Water in oil means a very quick death to bearings. POLYMAX2™ is a non-hygroscopic lubricant, so it does not ”attract” moisture. POLY-slicq™ Additive Technology goes a step further to assure that POLYMAX2™ rapidly and completely separates from any moisture in the A/C system.
 
LONGER LIFE
POLY-slicq™ Additive Technology protects against oil oxidation, which causes oil to break down, thicken and form corrosive acids, sludge, varnish and lacquer deposits. Unless the oil is contaminated, oxidation is the only measure of oil life. Our technology assures POLYMAX2™ will last many times longer than other synthetic or mineral refrigerant oils.
 
EXTREMELY CLEAN
One dirty little secret that most oil suppliers will not talk about is cleanliness. Clean oil is absolutely critical in order to maintain long life from compressors. POLYMAX2™ is the only automotive refrigerant oil that is manufactured to ISO 4406 Cleanliness level of 14/13/11 as verified by laser particle counter. Just this extremely high level of cleanliness alone can improve compressor life and reliability by over 300 percent.

HOW THE ISO 4406 CLEANLINESS STANDARDS WORK
The smallest particle that can be seen with the naked eye is about 80 microns, which is about the diameter of a human hair. Oils routinely contain many thousands of particles smaller than the naked eye can see. The ISO 4406 Cleanliness Standard provides a universal method for reporting the particle contamination of fluids. This is done by counting the particles in a 1 milliliter sample of the fluid (1 milliliter is roughly equal to one eyedropper of fluid). Then a three digit cleanliness number is assigned.

 
COMPATIBILITY
POLYMAX2™ has excellent seal compatibility and can be used in place of all lubricants including mineral, PAG and Esters (POE) with all automotive refrigerants including R-12, R-134a and most blends.
  In order to establish the level of cleanliness:
1st, all particles equal or greater than 2 microns are counted.
2nd, all particles equal or greater than 5 microns are counted.
3rd, all particles equal or greater than 15 microns are counted.
Once counted, a Range Number is assigned (see chart).

contains: 2,200 particles >/= 2 microns
450 particles >/= 5 microns
60 particles >/= 15 microns
It would have an ISO Cleanliness Level

ENVIRON-MENTALLY FRIENDLY
POLYMAX2™ refrigerant oil is formulated with components that are TSCA listed and meet EPA, RCRA and OSHA requirements.

What POLY-slicq™ Additive Technology is not:
POLY-slicq™ Additive Technology is not like traditional additive packages found in many lubricants. It is not a purchased package from any of the talented additive suppliers. It is not a carcinogen or heavy metal. It does not contain any form of a chlorine / chlorinated compound or any of the other numerous aftermarket additives. It does not contain any solids such as graphite, PTFE (Teflon™) or molybdenum disulfide (Moly). It is not an overbalanced TBN component (total base number) such as a calcium product.
